Alison Bowen
Alison Bowen is an award-winning journalist whose work has covered a wide range of topics, from immigration coverage to health articles, or “all kinds of stuff about all kinds of stuff,” as once introduced on WGN Radio. She is a 2019 Livingston Award finalist for her reporting revealing that emergency room nurses in Illinois were not trained to administer rape kit exams, which prompted legislation. Her reporting has appeared in publications including the Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times. Bylines range from mustangs helping veterans wrestle PTSD and a doctor studying torture scars to wineries nestled in unexpected places. She serves on the board of the Association for Women Journalists-Chicago. Alison is available for freelance opportunities.
