Experiencing Austin #withAsana

Earlier this month, we hit the road and headed to Austin to celebrate the local teams building, baking, entertaining, and bettering their community, all #withAsana. Since we launched #withAsana, we’ve gotten to know customers across a range of industries: from biotech and manufacturing to music and education. We’re continually amazed by our customers’ innovations and forward-thinking ways of working together. Our trip to Austin was the first time we experienced the vibrancy of a city entirely through the lens of our customers. Being on the ground, meeting entrepreneurs and teams, and feeling the buzz and energy of Austin helped us celebrate those who get more done #withAsana in a way we’ve long dreamed of.

We know many of you couldn’t be there, but we wanted to share a postcard of our trip and introduce you to some of great teams we met along the way!

Our Airbnb

Our first stop was checking into our funky East Austin Airbnb, complete with a vintage trailer in the backyard.

Working from Capital Factory

Throughout the week, we were lucky to have Capital Factory, a co-working space and start-up incubator that runs operations #withAsana, act as our home base. Here, our head of business, Kenny Van Zant, gave a talk on Asana’s culture and way of working and we met some inspiring Austin-based entrepreneurs who are contributing to the city’s growing tech community.

Capital Factory is considered the center of gravity for all things tech and entrepreneurial in Austin. Their team successfully manages 700+ events, 32,000+ attendees and 750 members #withAsana.

Celebrating #withAsana

We couldn’t leave Texas without throwing a party with tacos & tequila.  Cheers to you, Austin!

Attendees received goody bags filled with products made by teams that use Asana. Everyone walked away with BAGGU bags, Rip Van Wafels, Tiff’s Treats cookies, Tattify temporary tattoos, and Zazzle postcards.

New friends

Thanks to those who shared their #withAsana story at our events or on social media, we were invited to explore some interesting corners of Austin. Here are just a few of the inspiring people and businesses we got to know:

We met Sagan, a project manager at CommUnity Care, for a tour of one of their new clinics. CommUnity Care operates 25 clinics and serves around 80,000 patients in Travis County.

We also squeezed in a visit to the wonderful Hideout Theatre, an Austin institution that’s home to a range of weekly improv shows and classes (that they organize #withAsana!). Roy and his team shared a bit what makes Austin special: “In Austin, everyone has their own individual passion. For us, improv is our own artform. There’s so much collaboration and support for the arts in this city; no matter what it is you’re passionate about, Austin is a city that will embrace that passion.”

The Hideout Theatre teaches 7 levels of improv classes and hosts summer camps, festivals, intensives, and workshops. Their team has been using Asana to inspire unscripted moments for the Austin community since 1999. As Roy put it, “Wrangling artistic types is never easy, especially on this scale. Asana really helps.”

Austin eats

Last but not least, if there’s one reason to visit the great city of Austin, it’s the food. We came hungry and carved out plenty of time to try all the cookies, kimchi fries, pretzels and coffee made #withAsana.

The teams at Easy Tiger, Chi’lantro BBQ, and Tiff’s Treats use Asana to manage their various locations and grow their businesses throughout the Austin areas.

Thank you to all our friends in Austin who shared their stories and celebrated with us this May. We’re proud to hear and see all the ways Asana is powering your companies and contributing to the vibrancy of your city.

Where to next?

We’re more inspired than ever to meet more teams using Asana around the country and the world! Where should we visit next? Tell us what your team is doing #withAsana in the comments.
